Recent hacking attemps have been detected due to the Malaysia/Sabah issue. Since most of our customers are Philippine based, they were targetted and some were successful due to insecure sites. Because of this, we highly advice all our customer to do the following:
1. Please follow the best practices for securing your website found on our Knowledgebase
2. Ensure that you are always using the latest version of our applications (Wordpress, Joomla, etc).
3. Install security plugins for your applications if available (read our blog for WP plugins)
4. Delete unused files/themes and plugins as they are mostly the target of these hackes
5. Ensure you create backups of your site using the cpanel backup utility
We do regular scanning of our servers and inform users if we find any malicious files, however sometimes it might be too late and hackers have already exploited these holes. In the case this happens, the only course of action to either restore from backup or re-create the whole site so follow our knowledgebase articles so you don't have to under go this process.
For the rest of our customers, our servers are designed to isloate hackers only to the vulnerable sites. If you site is fully updated, then you should not worry as they hackers will not be able to reach you through other client's website.
